Studio News/Current Projects

Since the installation of our new Rupert Neve 32-ch console in January, the studio's been packed with some really great projects. The Entrance Band (signed to Thurston Moore's imprint, Ecstatic Peace Recordings) were tracking and mixing material for their label debut, set for release later this year. The trio worked with Infrasonic's Jeff Ehrenberg on the as-yet-untitled album, a follow up to 2006's Prayer of Death.

Matt Cronk, Paul Christensen and David Yow, of Qui are no strangers to Infrasonic and were back in the studio working on a handful of new material in March, with Pete Lyman engineering. We're excited to announce that Qui will release their upcoming full-length via our own label, Infrasonic Sound Recordings, later this year! What's more, the band tracked two songs (for the full length) that Pete literally mixed and mastered within 24-hours for an incredibly limited edition 7-inch in honor of their appearance at All Tomorrow's Parties. Check out our label page for all of the details and your chance to order a copy.

From three-piece outfits to full-piece orchestras, Infrasonic's had a diverse roster this season, including The Watts Ensemble, a sixteen-instrument jazz band, Los Angeles' Slang Chickens, Abe Vigoda, 60 Watt Kid and more. Our friends No Age were back at Infrasonic as well, working on material for their new EP, set for release on Sub Pop later this year.

If you've flipped through the stacks at your local record store lately, you’ve probably come across a number of releases that Pete mastered here at Infrasonic Sound, including the latest from Crocodiles, Mika Miko's release on PPM, Sabertooth Tiger, Upsilon Acrux, Mikon Aistra, Mates of State, Ben Harper - we even had an American Idol contestant in our midst as Pete mastered material for Brooke White as well.

On the newsstands, Mix Magazine featured Infrasonic in their March issue. Take a look here! Pitchfork Media, Tiny Mix Tapes, ProSound News and Performer have also made mention of Infrasonic lately thanks to the new console and bands who've stopped by.

All of this going on, and we even managed to file our taxes on time.
